Description
The Americans Will Always Fight for Liberty poster
“1778 – 1943: Americans will always fight for liberty” is a 1943 World War II poster by American painter Bernard Perlin, issued by the Office of War Information as OWI Poster No. 26 and printed by the U.S. Government Printing Office. Three G.I.s in helmets and long Army overcoats march forward past a line of Continental soldiers in tattered coats and tricorn hats, standing in the snow beneath a blue flag with a circle of stars. One image links the soldiers of 1943 to the men who fought for independence in 1778.
Painterly, moody and full of history, it is one of the best-known American posters of the Second World War and a fine piece for a study, office, den or anyone who loves American history.

Restored edition
Restored from an archival scan of an original 1943 print. Fading, stains, creases and paper wear were repaired and the stormy blues, snow whites and olive browns brought back, keeping Perlin’s brushwork and the bold lettering true to the original. Drag the before and after slider below to compare.
