Description
The Go With the Bold Ones poster
Go With the Bold Ones puts the viewer on the flight deck of an aircraft carrier. A catapult officer raises one gloved hand high, a second crewman crouches by the jet’s wing, and in the foreground a sailor with Navy Catapult Crew stencilled on his back salutes the pilot. The white jet, with a yellow tail and a chin air intake, resembles a Vought F-8 Crusader.
The poster was printed for Navy recruiting in 1966, during the Vietnam War; its printing code, RAD 66506, points to that year. It is usually attributed to Lou Nolan, though it is unsigned. The flag in a ring of thirteen stars, with Navy in white, was the recruiting emblem of the time.
