A Marine Corps anniversary in wartime
The poster pairs two advancing Marines with a drummer from an earlier era. The Marine Corps University history journal identifies it as a 1943 anniversary design and explains how the older figure connects wartime service with the Corps’ traditions. Its inscription marks November 10, 1775–1943.
Why the image stands out
The large title, forward movement and unmistakable Marine imagery give this design a strong focal point. It suits a collection centred on Marine Corps history, service and remembrance.
