Description
The story behind the poster
Two Coast Guardsmen aboard a ship anchor L. W. Bentley’s 1942 recruiting image. The diagonal red Victory lettering gives the composition its sense of movement. The Library of Congress records the source under Coast Guard recruiting and enlistment; the available archival image derives from a colour film copy transparency.
