Description
The Welcome Home Our Gallant Boys poster
“Welcome Home Our Gallant Boys – Peace, Justice, Liberty” is a 1918 homecoming poster published by Hennegan & Co. of Cincinnati. Liberty, in a white robe and cap, stands on the globe with her arms raised, holding laurel above the flags of the Allied nations. Eagles crown the gilded frame, and ribbon borders list the battles where Americans fought, from Cantigny and Belleau Wood to Château-Thierry, St. Mihiel and the Meuse-Argonne.
Made to greet the men returning from France, it is a rich, celebratory image and a meaningful gift for a veteran, a military family or anyone researching an ancestor who served in the Great War.
